How To Make Homemade BBQ Meatballs

Skip the store-bought meatballs and whip up your own flavorful BBQ meatballs at home! It’s rich, savory, and is made with simple and tasteful ingredients.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4eggs,beaten
  • 1cupvodka,divided
  • ½cupwater
  • 1tbspWorcestershire sauce
  • 2tbspdried minced onion flakes,plus more to taste
  • 1tspgarlic powder,plus more to taste
  • ½tspsalt,plus more to taste
  • ½tspground black pepper,plus more to taste
  • 3lbsground beef
  • 2lbsground turkey
  • 15ozbread crumbs,1 package, Italian seasoned
  • 28ozcrushed tomatoes,2 cans
  • 14.25oztomato puree,2 cans
  • 18ozbarbeque sauce,1 bottle, hickory smoke flavored
  • 8ozcrushed pineapple,1 can
  • 1cupbrown sugar
  • 14ozketchup,1 bottle

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, ½ cup of vodka and Worcestershire sauce.

  2. Season with 2 tablespoons of onion flakes, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

  3. Mix in the ground beef, ground turkey and bread crumbs.

  4. Shape into meatballs, and set aside.

  5. In a very large pot over medium heat, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, barbeque sauce, pineapple, brown sugar, ketchup, and ½ cup of vodka.

  6. Season to taste with onion flakes, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer.

  8. Heat a large heavy skillet over medium heat.

  9. Cook the meatballs until evenly brown on all sides.

  10. Carefully place the meatballs into the sauce, then simmer for at least 1 hour.

  11. Serve, and enjoy!
