How To Make Copycat Subway’s Meatball Sandwich

For Meatballs:

  • 9 oz ground pork
  • 9 oz ground beef
  • oz breadcrumbs, store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tbsp red onions, minced
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cooking spray

For Sandwich:

  • 1 lb marinara sauce
  • 1 French baguette, cut into 3 slices
  • cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated


  1. Preheat your oven to 360 degrees F and grease a baking tray with cooking spray.


  1. Combine all its ingredients in a bowl and mix until evenly incorporated.

  2. Shape these into roughly 3 ounces of meatballs, then place these on your greased baking tray, inches apart from each other. You should have at least 9 pieces.

  3. Transfer to the oven and roast for roughly 20 minutes or until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.

  4. Heat up a skillet with marinara sauce. Add the meatballs into this and simmer for roughly 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

To Assemble:

  1. Toast your baguette and slice diagonally.

  2. On your toasted baguette, spread the now-reduced marinara sauce around then sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

  3. Line up your meatballs on top, then sprinkle to cover with cheddar cheese.

  4. Broil in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until cheese just melts.

  5. Portion accordingly, garnish with parsley and serve.
