Everyone will love these delicious Party Cocktail Meatballs which are served in a savory red sauce made of ketchup, apple jelly, hot sauce, and more!

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 5lbscooked meatballs,frozen, thawed
  • 28ozketchup,(1 bottle)
  • 18ozapple jelly,(1 jar)
  • 12ozred currant jelly,(1 jar)
  • ¼tsphot sauce

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water, and bring to a boil.

  2. Cook the meatballs, working in batches if necessary, in the boiling water for about 3 minutes, until they begin floating on top and are heated through.

  3. Remove the meatballs with a slotted spoon, drain in a strainer, and transfer to a large saucepan.

  4. Combine the ketchup, apple jelly, red currant jelly, and hot sauce in a separate large saucepan.

  5. Cook and stir over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes, until the jelly is dissolved and the sauce is heated through.

  6. Pour the sauce over the meatballs.

  7. Simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, over medium heat until the meatballs and sauce are thoroughly heated.

Recipe Notes

  • The amount of sauce in the recipe works for up to 5 pounds of meatballs. If making more, increase the amount of sauce. If cooking fewer meatballs, you would just have more sauce. The size of the meatballs may change the number of servings. The approximately 32 serving count is based on 5 pounds of 5 or 8 ounce sized meatballs (about the size of a golf ball) and about 4 per person.
  • The meatballs can also be simmered in a slow cooker. Transfer the cooked meatballs from boiling water to a slow cooker. Pour the simmered sauce over meatballs. Cook on Low for about 1 hour.
