How To Make Twist Cookies

Can’t choose between chocolate and vanilla? Worry no more! These twist cookies have got you in for a treat with a half-and-half of what you like!

For White Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  • 7tbspunsalted butter,softened
  • cupgranulated sugar
  • 1egg
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 2tbspmilk
  • ½cupwhite vanilla chips
  • 2cupsall-purpose flour
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspbaking soda
  • ½tspsalt,scant
  • ¾cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips

For Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  • 7tbspunsalted butter,softened
  • cupgranulated sugar
  • 1egg
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 3tbspmilk
  • ½cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2cupsall-purpose flour
  • 2tbspcocoa powder
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspbaking soda
  • ½tspsalt,scant
  • ¾cupvanilla chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a cookie sheet.

White Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, then add vanilla and milk.

  3. Melt vanilla chips in the microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and smooth.

  4. Add melted white chocolate to the cookie dough mixture. Slowly stir in dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated. Mix in chocolate chips.

Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, then add vanilla and milk.

  3. Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and smooth.

  4. Add melted chocolate to the cookie dough mixture. Slowly stir in dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated. Mix in vanilla chips.

Twist Cookies:

  1. Scoop 1 even tablespoon of vanilla cookie dough and 1 even tablespoon of chocolate cookie dough; use separate scoops or colors will blend). Take each one and carefully meld together while cupping your hands to round edges.

  2. Places cookie on the cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Do this with the remaining dough, baking 12 cookies at a time. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before moving to a wire cooling rack.
