How To Make Funny Face Cookies

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (assorted colors)
  • Assorted candy decorations (e.g. chocolate chips, sprinkles, gummy worms)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the vanilla extract and salt, and mix well.

  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined.

  5. Divide the dough into several portions and tint each portion with a different food coloring.

  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut out funny face shapes using cookie cutters.

  7. Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and decorate with assorted candy decorations to create funny faces.

  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
