How To Make Soft and Easy Molasses Cookies
With their perfectly-cracked tops and chewy texture, molasses cookies makes a classic holiday treat with warm flavors of cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.

Ingredients
- ¾cupshortening
- 1cupbrown sugar,packed
- 1egg
- ½cuplight molasses
- 2½cupsall purpose flour
- 1tspsalt
- 2tspbaking soda
- ½tspground cloves
- 1tspground cinnamon
- 1tspground ginger
Instructions

Cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Stir in the egg and molasses, then mix well.

Fold in the flour, salt, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger, then stir.

Cover and chill for 1 to 2 hours or until firm.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll the dough into small balls, then roll them in the white sugar. Place the cookies on lightly greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 9 to 10 minutes. Leave the cookies on the cookie sheet for 1 minute until set.
