How To Make Perfect Vegan Sugar Cookies

Make a fresh batch of everyone’s favorite dessert! With these cookie recipes, you can bake all kinds of different sweet treats. Make a classic snack with chocolate chip cookies. Or, switch it up by adding nuts, raisins, and other ingredients to keep things interesting.

  • 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of vegan margarine, softened
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp of baking soda
  • ¼ tsp of salt
  • ¼ cup of plant-based milk (such as almond or soy milk)
  • Vegan sprinkles or colored sugar (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the vegan margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. Stir in the plant-based milk until a soft dough forms.

  7. Roll the dough into small balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass or your hand.

  9. If desired, sprinkle the cookies with vegan sprinkles or colored sugar.

  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
