  • ½cupshortening
  • ¾cupsugar
  • 1egg
  • ¾cupmilk
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • cupsall purpose flour
  • ½cupbaking cocoa
  • ½tspsalt
  • ½tspbaking soda
  • 18large marshmallows,halved

For Frosting:

  • 3tbspbutter,softened
  • 3cupsconfectioners sugar
  • 3tbspbaking cocoa
  • tspsalt
  • 4tbspmilk


  1. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda; gradually add dry mixture to shortening and mix well.

  2. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and press a marshmallow half, cut side down, onto each cookie; bake for 2 minutes longer. Remove to cool.

  3. In a small bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa and salt until smooth. Add milk to achieve desired consistency. Frost and Enjoy!
