How To Make Chewy Oatmeal Cookies
Chewy, chunky, and nutty, these classic oatmeal cookies serve the perfect afternoon snack made with oats, walnuts, and cinnamon for delightful sweets.

Ingredients
- 1cupshortening
- 1cupbrown sugar
- 1cupwhite sugar
- 2large eggs,well beaten
- 1tbspvanilla extract
- 1½cupall purpose flour
- 1tspsalt
- 1tspbaking soda
- 1tbspcinnamon
- 3cupsold fashioned rolled oats,like Quaker Quick or Old Fashioned, do not use instant
- ¾cupwalnuts,chopped
- 1cupraisins,optional
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Beat together the shortening and sugars. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat well.

Whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon. Add to sugar and egg mixture and mix well. Add 1 tablespoon of water. Add the raisins and nuts, then add the oats last.

Spoon out by heaping tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove to a wire rack.

Serve cooled completely and enjoy.
