  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, butter, granulated sugar, cardamom, and salt until it resembles crumbs.

  3. Slowly add in the milk, a little at a time, until the dough comes together. Knead the dough until smooth.

  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick.

  5. Cut the dough into long strips and twist them into whirls. Place the whirls onto the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool.

  7. Dust the whirls with powdered sugar before serving.
