How To Make Amish Sugar Cookies (Crisp Sugar Cookies)

Made with the simplest ingredients, these Amish sugar cookies are soft and chewy treats, topped with sprinkles for extra treats.

Ingredients

  • 2⅓cupsall purpose flour
  • ½tspbaking soda
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspcream of tartar
  • ½tspsalt
  • ½cupunsalted butter,at room temperature
  • ½cupvegetable oil
  • ½cupgranulated sugar
  • ½cuppowdered sugar
  • 1large egg
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • sprinkles,for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside. 

  3. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until blended. Mix in egg and vanilla. 

  4. With the mixer set on low speed, slowly add in dry ingredients and mix until combined. 

  5. Scoop dough out by the heaping tablespoonfuls and shape into balls. Transfer dough balls to Silpat lined baking sheets spacing cookies 2-inches apart, flatten slightly and top with sprinkles as desired. 

  6. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

  7. Store in an airtight container.
