  • 4 slices of Challah bread
  • 2 grapefruits
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Powdered sugar and maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  2. In a shallow dish, squeeze the juice of one grapefruit and set aside.

  3. In a separate shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.

  4. Dip each slice of Challah bread into the grapefruit juice, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  5. Then, dip the soaked bread into the egg mixture, coating each side evenly.

  6. Melt a pat of butter on the preheated skillet or griddle.

  7. Cook the grapefruit French toast for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

  8. Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter as needed.

  9. Serve the Challah grapefruit French toast hot, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

  10. Garnish with slices of the remaining grapefruit.
