This simple recipe for caramelized toast is definitely good enough to be called candy bread! An easy recipe for a delightful breakfast with a cup of joe.

Ingredients

  • 6 sliceswhite breador french bread (slices should be about thick)
  • ¼cupbuttersalted, softened
  • 6tbsplight-brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Heat a non-stick griddle or fry pan over medium heat.

  2. In a small bowl, using a fork, mix together butter and brown sugar until well combine.

  3. Spread about ½ tablespoon of butter mixture evenly over each side of the bread (about 1 tablespoon total per slice).

  4. Place coated bread on preheated non-stick pan and cook until bottom turns golden, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  5. Flip and cook reverse side until bottom turns golden.

  6. Repeat process with remaining slices of bread. Remove candied bread from heat and best served warm.

Recipe Notes

 

– Don’t stack slices while hot or they will stick. – It can also be made with white sugar. – Alternatively, you can add a pinch of ground cinnamon to the butter mixture.
