Ingredients

  • 500g of tteok (rice cakes)
  • 200g of fish cakes
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
  • 2 tablespoons of gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, and cook until fragrant.

  2. Add the water, gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, and sugar to the pot. Stir well to combine.

  3. Add the rice cakes and fish cakes to the pot. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the rice cakes are soft and the sauce has thickened slightly.

  4. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
