Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 24 mini chocolate chips
  • White sparkling sugar

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

  6. Divide the dough in half and roll out one portion to about 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

  7. Use an owl-shaped cookie cutter to cut out owl shapes from the dough. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.

  9. Bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

  10. Allow the biscuits to cool completely on a wire rack.

  11. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.

  12. Drizzle the glaze onto the cooled biscuits, then immediately sprinkle with white sparkling sugar to resemble snow.

  13. Place two mini chocolate chips on each biscuit to create the owl’s eyes.

  14. Allow the glaze to set before serving.
