Amp up your holiday spread with this heavenly ho ho cake, made with silky chocolate frosting, dreamy buttercream, and moist cake.

Ingredients

  • 9 oz chocolate cake mix, (1 package)
  • 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • cups milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup margarine, divided
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • tsp hot water
  • 1 oz unsweetened chocolate, (3 squares) melted
  • cups confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake cake as directed on the package for a 9x13-inch pan. Cool completely.

  2. Combine flour and milk in a saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Cool completely. Cream 1 cup of sugar, ½ cup margarine, and shortening. Add cooled milk mixture, and beat well. Spread over cake. Refrigerate.

  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg. Stir in vanilla, melted chocolate, hot water, confectioner's sugar, and remaining margarine. Pour over second layer. Refrigerate.

  4. Serve and enjoy.
