How To Make Scalloped Potatoes Without Cheese

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.

  3. Add the broth, heavy cream, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the saucepan. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  4. Layer half of the potato slices in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.

  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potato slices and sauce.

  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and tender.

  7. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired. Serve hot.
