How To Make Baked Sweet Potatoes

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Optional toppings:
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped green onions
  • Shredded cheese
  • Chopped bacon


  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Scrub the sweet potatoes clean and dry them with a towel.

  3. Poke several holes all over each sweet potato using a fork.

  4. Place the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet and rub them with olive oil.

  5. Sprinkle salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder over the sweet potatoes. Use your hands to evenly coat the potatoes.

  6. Bake the sweet potatoes for 45-50 minutes, or until they are tender when pierced with a fork.

  7. Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

  8. Serve the baked sweet potatoes with your desired toppings like sour cream, chopped green onions, shredded cheese, or chopped bacon.
