How To Make Cafe de Olla (Mexican Coffee)

This cafe de olla will surely give you an energy boost. It's made with cinnamon for a Mexican spiced coffee.

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 oz piloncillo, panela or ⅓ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ Mexican cinnamon stick
  • 4 tbsp ground coffee


  1. In a medium saucepan, place the water, cinnamon, and Piloncillo. Turn the heat and simmer for about 7 minutes until the piloncillo is dissolved.

  2. When the water starts boiling, add the coffee, turn the heat off and stir.
  3. Cover the pot and let steep for 5 minutes. Pour through a strainer to serve. Enjoy!
