How To Make Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats

These chewy Rice Krispie treats are crispy rice cereals flavored with melted marshmallow and sweet and slightly caramelized brown butter.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes
Total: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½cupunsalted butter
  • ¼tspkosher salt
  • 10ozmarshmallows
  • 6cupsRice Krispies cereal

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch pan, or line with parchment paper. Set aside.

  2. In a dutch oven or large pot, melt butter over medium low heat, stirring continuously. Keep stirring until butter foams, turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.

  3. Once the butter begins to brown, remove from heat and stir for 1 minute. Stir salt into melted butter.

  4. Add the marshmallows and mix until completely melted.

  5. Mix in the Rice Krispies Treats until completely coated.

  6. Press the mixture into the prepared pan and let cool completely before serving.
