  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. Grease the preheated waffle iron with cooking spray or melted butter.

  7. Spoon the batter onto the hot waffle iron, spreading it evenly. Close the lid and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically 3-5 minutes or until the waffles are crispy and golden brown.

  8. Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and repeat with the remaining batter.

  9. Serve the chocolate waffles warm with your favorite toppings such as fresh berries, whipped cream, or maple syrup.
