How To Make Breakfast Waffles 2-Ways

You can never go wrong with soft breakfast waffles for a filling dish! Try these sweet waffles made from scratch and prepared mix for a mouthwatering bite.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • non-stick cooking spray,for greasing

For Prepared Mix:

  • 2cupswaffle mix
  • 1⅓cupsmilk
  • 1large egg
  • 2tbspvegetable oil

For Scratch:

  • 2cupsall-purpose flour
  • 2tbspgranulated sugar
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspbaking soda
  • 1tspkosher salt
  • 2large eggs
  • 8tbspunsalted butter
  • 2cupsbuttermilk

For Toppings:

  • 4tbspmaple syrup
  • 8tbspWhipped cream
  • 1cupmixed berries
  • 4tspsprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat a waffle iron to medium-high heat. Grease with nonstick spray.

Prepared Mix:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the waffle mix, milk, egg, and vegetable oil until fully incorporated.

  2. Add 1 cup of waffle batter to the center of the waffle iron. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes until the waffle is golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter.

  3. Top with desired toppings and enjoy!

Scratch:

  1. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, and buttermilk. Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until fully combined.

  3. Add 1 cup of waffle batter to the center of the waffle iron. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes until the waffle is golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter.

  4. Top each waffle with 1 tablespoon maple syrup and 2 tablespoons whipped cream. Garnish with ¼ cup mixed berries and 1 teaspoon sprinkles.

  5. Serve and enjoy.
