Preparing the Easy BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich Recipe

Tips on Making Brisket Sandwich

The smoky aroma of roast barbecue brisket is something that’ll instantly make you hungry. The coke marinade has a double purpose of both acting as a meat tenderizer and giving the beef a delicious caramelized flavor. Aside from that, here are more tips on how to make the best brisket sandwiches every time:

  • Keep in mind that brisket shrinks to almost half its volume when cooking. A good rule of thumb is to get a pound of brisket per person. This will yield a half-pound cooked brisket for each person, which is a good serving size as the main dish. Worried about having leftover brisket? You can refrigerate it and reheat it up to the third day. It stays good for two months in the freezer.
  • Go low and slow in cooking the BBQ beef brisket. Cooking it at too high a temperature will make it dry and tough. At 350 degrees F, each pound will take about 30 to 60 minutes to cook until tender. The brisket is done when a meat thermometer inserted to its thickest part reads to an internal temperature of 180 to 185 degrees F.
  • Always trim off the silverskin, but leave some fat on. The silverskin is a connective tissue that remains tough even after cooking. The fat packs tons of flavor while naturally basting the meat as it melts making the meat juicy.
  • Choose a soft but sturdy bread to hold all the beef in. Some good choices are Ciabatta, French bread, kaiser rolls, and crusty artisan bread.
  • Load them up with delicious brisket sandwich toppings like hot sauce, horseradish sauce, pickled vegetables, coleslaw, or some cheese like sharp white cheddar cheese, pepper jack, and Monterey Jack
