How To Make Spiced Mulled Wine
Warm the holidays with a glass of mulled wine made with red wine and brandy infused with the flavors of orange, cinnamon, and cloves.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1orange
- 15whole cloves
- 1bottlered wine,(inexpensive Cabernet or Malbec)
- ¼cupsugar,turbinado is nice
- 3cinnamon sticks
- 2tspground ginger
- ¼cupbrandy
Instructions
-
Stud the cloves into the orange, then cut the orange: Push the cloves into the orange to keep them from floating in the drink, then cut the orange into half circles.
-
Alternatively, cut the orange into half circles and add it and the cloves to the wine separately.
-
Add all the ingredients to a pot or a slow cooker.
-
On the stovetop, simmer the wine for 20 to 25 minutes over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally to mix ingredients and dissolve sugar.
-
If using a slow cooker, heat the wine on low heat for 1½ hours or on high for 45 minutes, until warm.
-
When the mulled wine smells amazing, tastes spicy, and is hot (but not boiling), it’s done. Serve and enjoy
