Ingredients

  • sugar biscuits
  • 6 Tbsp. orange liqueur , or orange juice (divided)
  • 2 ½ lb. strawberries, halved
  • trifle custard
  • 1 ½ cup whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

garnishes:

  • strawberries
  • mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare sugar biscuits and trifle custard (click on the links for the recipes).
  2. Cut sugar biscuits in half; brush cut sides evenly with 5 tablespoons orange liqueur or juice.
  3. Line bottom of a 4-quart bowl or trifle bowl with eight sugar biscuit halves.
  4. Arrange strawberry halves around lower edge of bowl.
  5. Spoon one-third of trifle custard evenly over sugar biscuit halves.
  6. Top with 1/3 of remaining strawberry halves.
  7. Repeat layers twice, ending with strawberry layer.
  8. Drizzle remaining orange liqueur evenly over top.
  9. Cover and chill for 3-4 hours.
  10. Beat whipping cream until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form.
  11. Spread over trifle; serve immediately.
  12. Garnish, if desired.
