Copycat Marie Callender’s German Chocolate Pie Recipe

This chocolatey pie can also be made with a simple meringue topping. Try this decadent dark chocolate dessert and treat yourself a little!

How To Make Copycat Marie Callender’s German Chocolate Pie

  • 1 pie shell (8-inch, baked)
  • 1 box dark chocolate fudge pudding mix (small box, not instant)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coconut (finely grated)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • Whipped topping (thawed, as desired)
  1. Cover the bottom of the pie crust with chocolate chips, just enough for a single layer.

  2. Heat in the oven or microwave to slightly warm and soften the chocolate chips.

  3. Cook pudding according to box directions and add coconut and nuts. Stir well.

  4. Pour while hot into pie crust. Let cool first.

  5. Chill in refrigerator until set.

  6. Once chilled, top with whipped topping.
  7. Sprinkle the top with a few chocolate chips, coconut and nuts if desired. Serve.
