Cocktail Rye Canape Appetizers Recipe

This recipe is great for an appetizer or along with a bowl of soup. It’s easy to put together, and once these canapes are assembled, they can be frozen for a later date.

How To Make Cocktail Rye Canape Appetizers

  • 1 lb mild Italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Velveeta cheese (cubed)
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • cocktail rye bread
  1. Cook Italian sausage and ground beef in a skillet and drain oil. Add oregano and chili powder and mix well. Add cubed cheese and stir until all is melted.

  2. Spread about 2 Tbs. of mixture on each slice of cocktail rye bread. Freeze on baking sheet and store, or heat in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Serve warm.
