How To Make Cranberry Thokku

Enjoy a blend of tang and spice with this cranberry thokku. It’s a South Indian pickle made with mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds tossed with berries.

  • 2tbspolive oil
  • 1tspmustard seeds
  • 1tspfenugreek seeds
  • tspground turmeric
  • tspasafoetida powder
  • 12ozfresh cranberries,(1 package), finely chopped
  • 1tspsalt
  • ½tspachar masala


  1. Heat olive oil, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, turmeric, and asafoetida in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. Mix in cranberries, salt, and achar masala. Cook and stir for 5 to 7 minutes until cranberries soften and break down.

  3. Remove from heat to cool before serving.
