Broccoli Cauliflower Cheesy Pasta Bake Recipe

Steamed broccoli tossed with spiral pasta in a creamy cheddar cheese sauce, topped with Parmesan and baked to bubbly deliciousness is an instant favorite. It tastes great alongside your favorite entree or can stand alone as a vegetarian meal the whole family with love!

  • 8 oz penne pasta, or fusilli, cooked and cooled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • cup unsalted butter
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 cups milk
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese, shredded or powdered
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • cups provolone cheese, shredded
  • 7 oz broccoli florets, blanched and cooled
  • 7 oz cauliflower florets, blanched and cooled
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste

To Serve:

  • 2 slices garlic bread


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and add in the flour to form a roux. Pour in the milk and continuously whisk until the mixture thickens.

  3. Add the provolone cheese and stir until melted. Add in the garlic powder and dried thyme, then stir until blended.

  4. Toss in the broccoli, cauliflower, and drained pasta to the cheese sauce. Mix until combined.

  5. Season to taste with salt and ground pepper. Adjust accordingly.

  6. Grease your preferred baking dish with olive oil, then add in the mixture.

  7. Cover with shredded Parmesan cheese.

  8. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.

  9. Set aside for a few minutes prior to serving. Serve alongside garlic bread
