How To Make Copycat Fried Chicken

  • 1 whole chicken (cut into 8 pieces)
  • 1 tsp. Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp. Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 qt. buttermilk
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups canola oil
  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In a large bowl soak the chicken in buttermilk for about 15 minutes until tender.
  3. Mix the flour, salt, and pepper together and coat the chicken in this mixture.
  4. Heat 1 inch of canola oil in a cast iron pan to 350 degrees.
  5. In batches fry the chicken in oil for about 7 minutes on each side.
  6. Drain the oil on paper towels before serving.
