Potato & Beef Casserole Recipe

Use plenty of cooked ground beef to create a delicious meaty casserole for a weekday meal! Sliced potatoes and tomato sauce fill out this wonderful tasty recipe.

How To Make Potato & Beef Casserole

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp thyme (chopped )
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 cup cheddar cheese (shredded )
  • 6 potatoes (sliced)
  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F. 

  2. Cook the beef in a large skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and melt the butter in another pot.

  3. Add the onion and cook about 2 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook another minute while stirring.

  4. Add the thyme. Add the milk and tomato sauce to the mixture and heat to boiling. 

  5. Stir one minute and remove from the heat. Stir in 1 cup of cheese and pour the sauce over the potatoes in the baking dish.

  6. Cover and bake 45 minutes. Sprinkle on the rest of the cheese and bake another 15 minutes until the top is brown and bubbly.
