Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 30 mins
Total: 35 mins
Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pears, peeled, cored, and diced into medium sizes
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pc lemon, or lime, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. First, boil the water and sugar.

  2. Add the pears and lemon and boil slowly and gently until the pears are tender and transparent.

  3. Place pears in a sterilized jar, pour over the boiling syrup and seal. Put the cover on the jar and adjust the clamps. Do not wipe the syrup from the top or rubber ring before sealing. Bacteria may be introduced by wiping.

  4. Place the sealed jar back in the wash boiler or a large pot and cover with hot water an inch just above the top of the jar. Bring to boiling point and let boil for 20 minutes for a pint-sized jar and 30 minutes for a quart-sized jar. The jars must be filled full.

  5. Once done, remove from the pot and enjoy!
