- 1 (3-4 pound) pork shoulder or butt roast
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 325°F.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, bourbon, soy sauce, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Place the pork roast in a roasting pan or Dutch oven.
-
Pour the maple-bourbon glaze over the pork, making sure it covers the entire roast.
-
Cover the roasting pan or Dutch oven with foil or a lid and roast for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
-
Remove the foil or lid and continue to roast for another 15 minutes, until the pork is browned and caramelized on top.
-
Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
-
While the pork is resting, pour the pan juices into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer.
-
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water until smooth.
-
Gradually whisk the cornstarch mixture into the pan juices and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
-
Slice the pork roast and serve with the maple-bourbon glaze and pan sauce.
