Clam Boil Stew Recipe

If you’re looking for an easy recipe to cook up for your next family dinner, this is one that even kids will love. Pair it with crusty Portuguese rolls for a stew that is delicious and looks great.

How To Make Clam Boil Stew

  • ½ lb. chorizo or linguica (sliced)
  • ½ lb frankfurters of your choice (sliced)
  • 4 oz yellow onion (chopped)
  • 16 oz potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • ½ lb clams
  • 1 tsp. garlic (chopped)
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 12 oz can beer of your choice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt & ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 20 fl oz seafood broth (preferably clam juice or broth, & more if necessary)
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil

To serve:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Crusty bread
  1. Saute onion in olive oil & butter until tender. Add garlic, chorizo and chili flakes. Saute briefly
  2. Add seafood broth, beer, & potatoes. The liquid should just cover the ingredients. You may need to add more broth
  3. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer until potatoes are cooked.
  4. Add frankfurters & clams. Simmer for a few more minutes
  5. Season to taste with salt & pepper. Adjust accordingly
  6. Serve with crusty bread & lemon wedges

  4. Add clams & simmer for roughly 5 more minutes
  5. Season to taste with salt & pepper. Adjust accordingly
  6. Serve with crusty bread & lemon wedges
