Ingredients

  • ½ lb chorizo, or linguica, sliced
  • ½ lb frankfurters, sliced, used beef
  • 4 oz yellow onion, chopped
  • 16 oz potatoes, peeled, cubed
  • ½ lb clams
  • 1 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 12 oz beer, (1 can)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • cups seafood broth, preferably clam juice or broth, add more if necessary, used shrimp broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For Serving:

  • lemon wedges
  • crusty bread, like Foccacia

Instructions

  1. Saute the onion in olive oil and butter until tender. Add the garlic, chorizo, and frankfurters, then saute briefly. Add the chili flakes and mix.

  2. Add the seafood broth, beer, and potatoes. The liquid should just cover the ingredients.

  3. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for roughly 10 to 15 minutes, until the potatoes are cooked.

  4. Add the clams and simmer for roughly 5 more minutes.

  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Adjust accordingly.

  6. Serve with crusty bread and lemon wedges.
