Enjoy a sip of this refreshing and naturally sweetened watermelon margarita at your next party! It’s deliciously zesty and has a bit of kick from the chili.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1small watermelon,seedless, or half of a larger watermelon
For Chili-Salt Rims:
- 1partkosher salt
- 1partancho chili powder,or regular chili powder
- lime wedges
For Margarita:
- 2ozwatermelon juice,fresh
- 1½oztequila,preferably 100% agave silver or blanco
- ¾ozlime juice,fresh
- ½ozorange juice,fresh
- ½tspagave nectar,or simple syrup, or more to taste
- 1jalapeño,thinly-sliced into ¼-inch wide rounds
- 1watermelon wedge,tiny, optional, to garnish
Instructions
-
Mix together equal parts of salt and chili powder on a small, rimmed plate. Rub the chili powder into the salt.
-
Run a wedge of lime around the top of each glass. Dip the top of the glass into the salt blend at a 45-degree angle, then roll it from side to side to catch the salt.
-
Add ice cubes to the glass, then set it aside.
Watermelon Juice:
-
Scoop the watermelon flesh into the blender, then blend until smooth. If the juice is too pulpy, pour it through a fine-mesh strainer, pressing the liquid through with a big spoon.
Cocktail:
-
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice, orange juice, agave nectar, then top with a jalapeño slice.
-
Secure the lid to the shaker, then shake for 30 seconds. Taste and add additional sweetener, if necessary.
-
Strain the liquid into the prepared glass, serve, and enjoy!
