How To Make Japanese Beef Sushi Rolls Recipe

Delicious sushi rolls made with savory beef, crunchy veggies, and sticky sushi rice.

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 35 minutes
Total: 55 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb beef steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 sheets of Nori seaweed
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • soy sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package instructions. In a small bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Fluff cooked rice with a fork and mix in the vinegar mixture.

  2. Grill or pan-fry beef until browned and cooked through.

  3. Lay a sheet of Nori seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin, even layer of sushi rice over the seaweed, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Arrange beef, cucumber, carrot, and avocado in a line at the bottom of the rice.

  4. Use the mat to roll the sushi tightly, tucking the filling in with your fingers as you roll. Moisten the top border of the seaweed with water and finish rolling to seal.

  5. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

  6. Use a sharp knife to slice each sushi roll into 8 pieces.

  7. Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
