Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined.

  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Pat or roll out the dough until it is 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the tops are golden brown.

  8. Serve warm!
