How To Make Bob Evans Country Fried Steak Recipe

Juicy, crispy and flavorful country fried steak made with beef, seasoned flour, and gravy.

Ingredients

  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

  2. In another shallow dish, whisk egg and buttermilk together.

  3. Dredge cube steak in the seasoned flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and coat again with the seasoned flour.

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steak for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Remove steak from skillet, and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  6. In the same skillet, melt butter. Sprinkle flour on top and whisk for a minute.

  7. Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until the gravy thickens. Serve with the country fried steak.
