Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 cup beer
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add the beef and brown on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside.

  3. In the same pot, add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until softened.

  4. Return the beef to the pot and sprinkle with flour. Stir and cook for 2 minutes.

  5. Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, beef stock, and beer. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender.

  6. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

  7. Roll out the pie crust and line a pie dish with one crust. Pour the beef filling into the dish.

  8. Cover with the second pie crust and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits on the top crust for venting.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
