Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup macaroni, cooked according to package instructions
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground lamb over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.

  4. Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, and dried rosemary, and cook for an additional minute.

  5. Add the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to the skillet, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  6. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half of the cooked macaroni evenly on the bottom.

  7. Pour half of the lamb mixture over the macaroni and spread it out evenly.

  8. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the lamb mixture.

  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining macaroni, lamb mixture, and cheeses.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

  11. Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

  12. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
