  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup cold beer (preferably lager)
  • 1 lb Wisconsin cheese curds
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Gradually whisk in the cold beer until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.

  3. In a large, deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  4. Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring it is completely coated, then carefully place it into the hot oil.

  5. Fry the cheese curds for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the fried cheese curds from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  7. Serve the fried cheese curds while they’re still hot and crispy. Enjoy!
