How To Make Tomato Gravy
Make a versatile sauce with this tomato gravy recipe. This rich bacon and tomato concoction can even be eaten as a soup!
Ingredients
- 8 bacon, slices, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 onion, large, chopped
- 28 fl oz tomatoes, 2 cans, diced
- 14 fl oz tomato sauce, 1 can
- 1 tsp white sugar, or more to taste
- ½ tsp ground black pepper, or to taste
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions

Place the bacon in a Dutch oven, and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the fat starts to cook out.

Add the onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent. Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to the pan.

Season with sugar and black pepper. Simmer until the sauce is reduced for 30 to 45 minutes.

Stir in the butter just before serving.
