How To Make Hamburgers and Ketchup Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning, or to taste
  • salt and pepper , to taste
  • 4 tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, large, cut into chunks
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup water, or as needed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground beef, 1 cup ketchup, bread crumbs, onion powder, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
  2. Form into small fat hamburger patties, or meatballs.
  3. Heat oil in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Place the patties in the skillet and cook until browned on both sides.
  5. Remove patties and transfer to a plate, then melt the butter in the same pan and saute the onions.
  6. In the same pan, slowly stir together the remaining ketchup and water if the mixture seems thin, add a bit more ketchup, or if it is thick, add more water.
  7. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  8. Return the patties to the pan, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  9. Stir after 30 minutes, and if the gravy is still thin, continue simmering with the lid off until the gravy thickens.
  10. Transfer to a serving plate then add more ketchup gravy and a garnish of chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy!
