Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 3 hours
Total: 3 hours and 20 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs brisket, trimmed and cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 packs of ramen noodles
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the curry powder, turmeric powder, paprika, cumin powder, coriander powder, and chili powder. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the brisket and sear on all sides until browned. Remove the brisket from the pot and set aside.

  3. In the same pot, add the diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.

  4. Add the beef broth, water, soy sauce, and fish sauce to the pot. Stir well to combine.

  5. Return the brisket to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the brisket is tender and can easily be shredded with a fork.

  6. Remove the brisket from the pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded brisket to the pot and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  8. To serve, divide the cooked ramen noodles among four bowls. Ladle the curried brisket and broth over the noodles. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.
