  • 2lbslean ground beef,80/20
  • 1yellow onion,chopped
  • 3clovesgarlic,minced
  • 16ozred kidney beans
  • 29ozcanned diced tomatoes,not drained
  • ¼cuptomato paste
  • 3tbspchili powder
  • 1tspkosher salt
  • 1tspcoarse ground black pepper
  • 1tspground cumin
  • 1jalapeno,minced, optional
  • ½cupsaltine cracker crumbs,finely ground

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef and onion together in a large pot or cast iron skillet over medium high heat until the beef is browned well.

  2. Add it to the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients.

  3. Cook on high heat for 3 hours or on low heat for 6 hours.
