Ingredients

Tartar Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt and ground white pepper , to taste

Tuna Filling Ingredients:

  • oz tuna in water, (1 can), drained and flaked as necessary
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp basil, fresh, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, fresh, chopped
  • 1 tbsp parsley, fresh, chopped
  • salt and ground white pepper , to taste

Sandwich assembly:

  • 8 American cheese slices
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8 wheat bread slices, (½ inch-slice)

To serve:

  • potato fries, or potato chips

Instructions

  1. Combine all your tartar sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl until evenly incorporated.

  2. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper then set aside.

To assemble:

  1. Spread roughly ½ tablespoons of butter on each toasted bread slice, followed by roughly 2 tablespoons of tuna filling.

  2. Place 2 slices of American cheese per sandwich, then spread roughly 1 tablespoon of tartar sauce per bread slice.

  3. Cover with the other bread slice then repeat with the remaining sandwiches.

  4. Cut it into half and serve with roughly 1 cup potato chips or fries. Garnish with ½ teaspoon of parsley.
