Copycat Olive Garden Penne Pasta Recipe

This classic pasta dish in meat sauce is sure to become one of your favorites. It tastes just like Olive Garden’s version without the cost or long wait.

How To Make Copycat Olive Garden Penne Pasta

  • 1/2 lb penne pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups red onion (diced)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 ½ can tomato sauce (roughly 35 oz in total)
  • ½ cup shredded or powdered parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp parsley (chopped)
  1. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, for about 8 minutes. Save a little of the pasta water & drain the rest
  2. Heat olive oil in a sauté pan.
  3. Add the onion and Italian seasoning. Saute until onions are soft, stirring frequently.
  4. Add the garlic and thyme and saute for one more minute. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. In a large pan, cook the beef and break it up as it cooks. Cook until browned.
  6. Add the meat to the onions and pour in the tomato sauce. Return the pan to the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  7. Toss the pasta with the sauce and serve with parsley & parmesan on top. Serve.
