How To Make 5-a-day Burger

Looking for something that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser? Get cooking with some burgers! Use these hamburger recipes to put together a hamburger that is juicy and undeniably tasty across the board.

  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup chopped spinach
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 cup grated zucchini
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato slices, and condiments for topping


  1. In a large bowl, combine shredded carrots, chopped spinach, diced bell peppers, grated zucchini, and chopped mushrooms.

  2. Add ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.

  4. Heat a grill or frying pan over medium heat. Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.

  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, then top with lettuce, tomato slices, and your favorite condiments.

  7. Serve the 5-a-day burgers with a side salad or some sweet potato fries.
