A delicious and nutritious dish packed with tender beef, crunchy vegetables, and flavorful sauce.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of whole wheat chow mein noodles
- 1 pound of lean beef, sliced into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup of snow peas
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of water
Instructions
-
Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.
-
Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for 1 minute. Add the bell pepper, mushrooms, snow peas, and green onions. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
-
Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Pour the slurry into the skillet and stir well. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
-
Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet and toss everything together until well combined.
-
Serve the healthy beef chow mein hot and enjoy!
